The Altadena Historical Society commissioned journalist, historian, and Altadena resident Michele Zack more than 20 years ago to write a comprehensive history of Altadena. The original hardcover edition featured numerous historical photographs and illustrations, many reproduced for the first time.
In celebration of its 90th anniversary, the Altadena Historical Society is reissuing the book in a new hardcover edition with enhanced photographs and an added reference to the Eaton Fire. The book received an Award of Excellence from the American Association for State and Local History in 2010 and was widely praised by scholars.
